Prometheus the Pre-Prequel to Aliens? – WonderCon 2012

Prometheus WonderCon Panel - Photo by Oscar Benjamin

Photo by Oscar Benjamin of Compassionate Wolf Productions.

Hello all! I have just returned from the 20th Century Fox Summer Movies panel at WonderCon. It only covered two films this year, but both look to be great. The first film was Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and the other was Prometheus. I will write about Abraham tomorrow, but today I am too jazzed to not write about Prometheus. Is Prometheus a direct prequel to Alien? I want to say ‘yes’ and ‘no’.

In a day of remakes and reboots it’s difficult to think that studios would green-light a single, self contained big budget story/movie. Half my assertions were justified when Sir Ridley Scott was asked the first question by panel presenter and writer Damon Lindelof.

Marvel May Land Irish Auteur Brian Kirk to Direct Thor 2

Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones

With the recent resignation of former Thor director Kenneth Branagh, it is obvious for Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures to move forward and select another director to helm the sequel. It sounds like Marvel has picked Irish auteur Brian Kirk and it seems that both sides are in the middle of negotiations right now.

Anne Hathaway Responds to Catwoman Costume Criticism

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway

We recently showed you the very first official pictures of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle AKA Catwoman for Christopher Nolan’s Batman: The Dark Knight Rises, which is currently filming in Pittsburgh. However, as predicted, the  responses from fans are mostly negative as the consequence of the lackluster visualization of the Catwoman costume compared to the original one in DC Comics. Some of the more iconic elements are missing like the cat-eared cowl and the stylized goggles. Read the rest of this entry »

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 2

Marvel Comics is digging deeper as they begin to explore other potential storylines from the Marvel Universe away from the popular A-list superheroes like the X-Men, SpiderMan, and Iron Man. You may remember just the other day we brought you the story on Dr. Strange hitting the big screen. Can a feature production of the Guardians of the Galaxy be far behind as predicted?

According to Twitch, they have sources that say Marvel is presently in active development on a film adaptation of Guardians of the Galaxy. This is shocking yet exhilarating news!

Marvel Comics: “The Avengers” Sneak Peek Sets For D23 Expo

Disney-D23-Expo-The-Avengers

Disney D23 Expo - The-Avengers

Glancing back to the last San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Comics decided to skip a major Hall H presentation which means they also postponed a sneak peek into Joss Whedon’s ‘The Avengers’. The only question on my mind is: WHEN are we going to see the footage of our favorite superheroes in action? As loyal fans we deserve a little bone, so we can start planning our sick days.

On August 9th, Walt Disney Pictures officially issued a press release and confirming that The Avengers will be among the forthcoming film panels at its D23 Expo which will take place from August 19 to August 21 at the Anaheim Convention Center. On August 20, The Expo itself will showcase some impressive lineups, witch include Marvel’s The Avengers, The Muppets, John Carter, Disney-Pixar’s Brave, Oz: The Great and Powerful, and plenty more.

Joss Whedon Drops Some Updates on The Avengers

The Avengers

The Avengers

It is no surprise the director of The Avengers, Joss Whedon, tends to wrap things under his hands, so it was a big surprise that he spilled some juicy bits on this highly anticipated comic book adaptation recently at this past Comic Con. Joss Whedon spoke freely about the status of the production, how he feels about working with the characters, and the possibility of an Avengers sequel. Did I mention SEQUEL? Hell yeah!

On the filming progress, the director said that the crew is “about 2/3 of the way through filming.” So, I guess we should be seeing more brief snippets from The Avengers since the status is ‘really-coming-soon-on-your-way’. Not only does Joss Whedon enjoy the shooting atmosphere but he is also proud of every scene. “It’s a blockbuster. There are certain things you do: you bust blocks.”

“The Dark Knight Rises”: First Photos of Anne Hathaway in Catwoman Costume!

Anne Hathaway as Catwoman

Anne Hathaway as Catwoman - The Dark Knight Rises

Since the filming of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises has caused quite a stir over in Pittsburgh, we have seen a lot of set pics of both Christian Bale as Batman and Tom Hardy as the vicious character, Bane. But many of us are asking, where is Selina Kyle as Catwoman? We want to see Anne Hathaway masked and in black. It is odd that we have not seen a glimpse of this character, until now.

Warner Bros. finally released the first official peek at Anne Hathaway as “Catwoman” in a skintight leather costume, riding a massive motorcycle that looks a lot like the Bat-pod. I really wonder where this girl got that cool ride! Did her thievery side get a grip on her inspiring her to pick up this toy from Bruce Wayne’s cave? I don’t know.

The Dark Knight Rises: Tom Hardy Updates Inhumanly Villain Bane

Tom Hardy - Bane - The Dark Knight Rises

Tom Hardy - Bane - The Dark Knight Rises

British “Inception” actor Tom Hardy isn’t always willing to talk about his new role in Warner Bros. “Batman: The Dark Knight Rises.” His role as Bane, the almost inhumanly fierce and massive villain, is also known as “the man who broke the Bat.”

Finally a few days ago, Tom Hardy opened up in an interview with Total Film to discuss DC Comics adaptation and his character Bane. “I think Bane’s f—ing cool so I’m really excited to play him.” For filming, Hardy wears a very realistic fearsome mask which according to Hardy, “It allows a performance to be free.” It doesn’t get more real than that!

Laurence Fishburne - Perry White

With filming set to start shortly, casting of Zack Snyder’s “Superman: Man of Steel” is finally shaping-up with some stellar choices. Hot on the heels of yesterday’s surprise reveal that the new Spider-Man is a half-Hispanic and half-African-American (and possibly gay) teenager, it was announced that the historically Caucasian Perry White will be played by an African-American, the gifted actor Laurence Fishburne.
